The day started out by waking up at 4 a.m. I carpooled with my friend Traci Hansen to the start of the race. I decided to run to her house to get in some warm-up miles. I thought it was only three miles to her house, but it was really a little over five. I thought I left in plenty of time to get there, but I was a little late since I miscalculated by two miles. The race itself was great. The weather was perfect and I kept a good pace. I was pleased with my time. I met Jody and Paula from the blog! It was fun talking with them and finally meeting people who I feel like I know already! I talked with Hildisvini after the race. He did a PR today. He pushed pretty hard, so he was walking a little funny after the race. One of the race volunteers asked if he needed a medical tent. He sheepishly said no, he was fine, but a little sore. He also had to go into work! Smeagol did a great time, too. He's been training really hard for this 10k. After the run, I watched the Kenyans come in. Then I ran 1 1/2 miles to Miriam's house for breakfast. Scott makes some mean omelets--I would love to hire him to be my personal chef! :) |
