I want to set some new PRs this year.

Personal:

I started running in 2001.  My first 5K was the Salt Lake Classic that year.  I ran it in just under 33 minutes.  I was excited that I could run the whole distance.  My dad and I joked around about doing a marathon, but then we decided, "Why joke about it when we could actually do one?"  We trained for the Top of Utah marathon the next year and ran it in 5:38.  It was such a great feeling of accomplishment!

It's been fun to see how I've improved over the years. It's been such a blessing in my life to have met so many other running friends and to train under such a dedicated and selfless Coach (Bill Schmid).  I hope to keep improving and thriving in the great sport of running!

I decided to take the opportunity to sleep-in today.  It felt wonderful!  I don't remember the last time I slept-in on a Saturday morning.  My running friends met at 6 a.m. to hike Mt Olympus.

I ran on my own today, around 9 a.m.  I went up City Creek (started from the lower gate to the top and back).  I feel like I did it at a pretty good pace, considering I still have lactic acid buildup in my legs from Wednesday's hike.  There were lots and lots of bikers riding today.  Some of them I played leap-frog with.  Quite a few shouted out encouraging words to me.  All in all, it has been a good day so far!

Great job on your own!! Not an easy run! I hear though it's better in the morning than the evening! I'll have to try that sometime, sleep in on Saturday and then run City creek later in the morning!

That's a great recovery! I thought you were looking a little teary-eyed while running that 5K on Friday from the leg soreness.

It was really nice running City Creek in the morning. The sleeping-in on a Saturday was awesome! I was actually not tired at work all day.

Yeah, that 5k on the fourth was a little painful, but I think I'm on the road to recovery!
